Videocine Palau is the result of the professional work of a group of people interested in producing Dominican cinema.

Opened in 1985, it was not until 1995 when was officially constituted under the consent of the Dominican law. Its President and founder is Dominican producer René Fortunato.

Why Palau? The name of the company pays homage to Francisco Arturo Palau (1879-1937), first Dominican filmmaker in Santo Domingo. He produced three cinematographic pieces at the beginning of the twenties, both fiction and feature documentary. To pay him homage, the president of the company released his first feature documentary in 1985: “In the Footsteps of Palau”.

The strategic objective of Videocine Palau is to rescue, preserve and broadcast the historical memory of the Dominican nation, as a way to contribute to the reinforcement of values that integrate the cultural identity of the Dominican people.

The production, distribution and sale of historical feature documentaries, are only part of the activities executed by the company in order to reach its objectives.
