OPINIONS
About the documentaries
Surprisingly good. In every way!
Juan

In my opinion it is an unprecedented work in the Dominican
Republic, not only because we did not have anyone before who collected
this documentation about our recent history, but also because it is the
rescue of our history that is intimately linked to our present today as
a nation, that is why I believe this is a very valuable work.

The
Dominican Republic is very lucky to have someone like René
Fortunato. René started form scratch to reconstruct our history
and rebuilt it with a complete cinematographic sense, despite the fact
that he is into documentaries. It is a well structured documentary made
with the best techniques we can count on in our country, besides refreshing
our recent past. I think that René Fortunato deserves the acknowledgement
of the Dominican people for the astounding effort he has made related
to the rebirth of a recent past that affects our present life so much.

Coming from Don René Fortunato, this documentary does not surprise
us. Always through the scientific method, arriving to the historical truth
which is the very essence of history and with the images and music of
the time, reaches the truth through the scientific method, but we are
sorry that the poverty reflected on the Trujillo
documentary is the same we still have now a days, and the analphabetism
that we saw in the numbers of this documentary, are still present in our
people.

Magnificent, is a work of rescue of the Dominican historical memory that
the newest generations don´t know about because this history is
too new and it isn´t old enough to be taught at school, that is
why it is necessary to spread the facts in order to avoid repeating incidents
of such nature.

René Fortunato is one of the greatest documentary makers in the
World.

From every point of view, this has been the deepest, complete and courageous
visual work that has been done about Trujillo´s
tyranny.
* Dagoberto
Tejada
René, in artistic terms, possesses a cinematographic command and
knows how to combine the historical sequence with the esthetic effects,
suspense, surprise and, most of all, a synoptical and overwhelming finale.
* Manuel
Matos Moquete
A documentary of vital importance to our country, a great effort of a
serious and capable director. “The Power of the Generalissimo”
has to be seen by every Dominican”
* Arturo
Rodríguez
I believe it is an extraordinary documentary because of the precise reconstruction
of the historical events that were present in that period of time. This
work fills in blank spaces, covers the emptiness present in the identity
of the historical events of the Dominican
Republic. It is a good work that continues with an ascending line
in the accomplishment, in the materialization of a true perception about
the recent Dominican history. Today´s Dominicans, belonging to the
end of this century, need this kind of testimonials, this kind of visual
and graphic register, in order to understand the history of yesterday
and today.

This work exceeds the simple synopsis, giving it richness through the
interpretation of what the first years of the rising of Trujillo were.
Dense, goes further than a short breath.
*Ramonina Brea
This is a work of great value as a movie, as an art, as a diversity of
talent and as a historical documentary.
* Alvaro
Arvelo – Jr.-Amazing!
This documentary is brave and honest. See it as a valuable and worthy
effort!
*Armando
AlmanzarI ....think this is a very important historical
document.
There are things that I didn´t know, that have left me in one
piece. I want to point out that René Fortunato´s work is
great, because in order to coordinate the images, prepare a script and
at the same time be entertaining, I think that he has accomplished a lot.
Congratulations for him.
